Dr. Manjula Paul

 of Sound Shore Ayurveda

 

Dr. Manjula Paul grew up in Kerala, India, where her family has practiced Ayurveda for three generations as royal Vaidyas (doctors) for the imperial family of South India. Dr. Paul started her formal education in Ayurveda at the age 17, studying Ayurvedic medicine for 8 1/2 years, and earning the degrees of BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) and M.D. (Master's Degree, Doctor of Medicine) in Ayurveda.

 

Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word derived from two roots:  AYUS which means life cycle and VID which means knowledge.  Thus  Ayurveda is knowledge of daily living and the life cycle, a system for achieving and maintaining health through awareness of three subtle energies, Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
